Monday Review - Edinburgh

Minibakebakegirl and I are in Edinburgh this week.  On Friday and Saturday we had a wander round town soaking up the Festival atmosphere. We watched a street performer at The Mound - she was excellent.  We also went on our first Edinburgh tram!  Very busy, hopefully will be a bit quieter in October and I will get a seat!!

I love the craft fair at St Johns - there were so many stalls full of beautiful things - jewellery, pictures, scarves, bags, pottery and so much more. I was very restained and only bought one thing!

Lunch on Friday was at Bakehouse in Broughton Street.  I had pea and parsley soup with a savoury scone.  Delicious!

Over lunch on Saturday at The Hub, we looked to see what shows were on and Sister saw there was a free show - Separate But Equal - two different comedy duos in bite sized chunks - slightly random but we did laugh at some bits!! Afterwards we walked up Calton Hill for some incredible views.

On Saturday night there was a Tornado G4 flypast as part of the Tattoo, which we watched in the garden.  An hour later would be a flypast from the Red Arrows so we decided to walk up to The Rest and Be Thankful on Corstorpine Hill.  This features in Kidnaped by Robert Louis Stevenson.

I did tweet that I spent all Saturday evening looking up - two flypasts, two really bright ISS passes and fireworks over the Castle at midnight!

Sunday was a lovely family day, spent  with Cousin1 and her Husband and Cousin2 and his girlfriend.  We had a lovely meal at Sisters, it was great to spend time together and it was a very enjoyable afternoon.  We realised we had all only met up at funerals in recent years - is this a sad fact of getting old....Sister made a gorgeous summer pudding, will have to pinch the recipe.

See you next week,
Bakebakegirl
